How are you coping? I'm BAKING... so far...
cookies
sourdough bread
split pea soup (well, that's not baking but)
hard boiled eggs (a great recipe for pickled eggs in the South Beach Diet book)

I was doing all this at the SAME TIME today.
Talk about distractions and three ring circus.
Then I ... burnt the last batch of cookies.
DAMN.

And I can't even eat this stuff.
I always get this way when somebody dies.

9. I mostly got lost in my work today
I've got a business related seminar the next two days so I won't be thinking national politics much although my work is intertwined with state politics. The Democrats managed to hang on to my state - so that much is nice; I'll only continue to be sold out by them rather than screwed by the gropenator - I'm in labor law.

So, what's with the other idiots?
And I sooo do not want to work.
I have to finish a chapter in my book by the 7th and making that deadline is going to be tough. It's a romantic comedy.

25. Rearranged the bedroom and the living room
To put this in perspective, I am 5'6", female, about 120-130lbs, and out of shape, not much physical exertion these days; mostly sitting at a computer working on numbers.

The dresser is a 7-drawer, weighs a freaking ton - I had to slide and rest and slide and rest. Oh, and the drawers are not removable; I had to move the full weight. I unloaded it from the back of my sister's truck (which I borrowed to pick it up), by myself; on its end it's taller than I am. I lowered it by using my weight as a counter weight; surprised I didn't wind up up-ended. Then moved it up the step (only one, thank heavens!) and into the house by myself.

The living room sofa is a sofa bed, ever move one of those puppies?

And one piece of furniture is made of MDF, freaking heavy.

I figure this way, my body can hurt with my soul.

I put up pictures, rearranged, cleaned, dusted, vacuumed, and feng shui-ed everything. I figure I'm going to need all the good Chi I can generate/create.

32. Cabernet? Okay, it won't help, but I won't care.
Yeah, I'm starting to "feel the pain."

Aspirin and lots of water (after the Cabernet) might flush out most of the physical pain.

Hmmm, now you mention it, I've been promising myself a trip to the masseuse. Methinks this be the time.

:hi:

30. I cleaned
I took down all our extensive Halloween decorations (we decorate a long, wooded driveway - lots of big stuff. I filled 11 boxes with decorations).

I also cleaned off my deck, vacuumed the house, cleaned out the wood stove, re-arranged some storage.

I would move furniture, my normal way of coping with stress, but my house is too small. I bake sometimes too. And I'm like you - I don't even eat it except the bread.

37. I miss Vermont, especially at times like this
This morning, I was so low and I had to go to the store. I was on the highway and a truck with Vermont plates passed me (I'm in California, but I'm from Brattleboro). Such a wave of homesickness washed over me, I started to cry. I just wanted to go home....

Yes, if I was born here I don't know how it would be to leave.
It's beautiful right now. Eerie with most of the leaves down and no snow. BUT...

That's about to change. I hear we are maybe having snow tonight into this weekend. Depends where. Probably not Brattleboro.

I'll send you good VT thoughts.

39. I wandered around
with about three hours of disturbed sleep. When I was walking around in school I stumbled and almost tripped. I was in a complete daze. My stomach is still in knots. I had decided to sleep a bit just an hour or two before he conceded. My friend called me before he decided to concede...and being woken up like that...I don't think I really felt the full effect of this until I heard a few minutes of him conceding. I didn't even watch the whole concession because it depressed me too much.

I'm glad I don't know any Bush supporters. I don't think I could have taken any gloating.

Got a copy of "Animal Farm" by George Orwell, which I read ages ago. Almost bought Zell Miller's book for some reason, but then dropped it off in the "Gay and Lesbian" section of the store. I saw four Bush stickers today, two Kerry, which was a bit of a discouraging reminder. Also had a doctor's appointment, and apparently my blood pressure is higher than normal. I wonder why. Also turns out I have an ear infection and a sinus infection. Marvelous. Watch very little TV today, didn't do homework, and slept in from school. I don't know how to continue to cope. I can't face going to school tomorrow.

47. How weird you should say that...
...I was just in the kitchen and I turned to my husband and said, "you know there is something different about a second term than a first. Everyone wants out and they write books. And oooh, there is no one checking since they aren't worried about re-election." I said, "something's gonna come out; it always does."

I mean, look what happened to Clinton. Jump ship, write book was the password. Stephanopolus was at one time a best friend. And look what happened.

Someone's gonna crack. Big time.
I can't wait.
