My anti-insanity cookoff therapy continues.
Yesterday was my okra, chicken, and sausage gumbo. It has been hailed, by neighbors who know, as my best. It is so thick and so good that it is almost erotic.

Today I slow cooked (7 am to 2 pm) a Boston butt on the wood (hickory) cooker. I let it cool, pulled it, brewed up a cider vinegar sauce, and took the BBQ to my neighbors. I reserved about a half pound for lunch.

Then, on the same hickory fire (actually off, as in indirect heat, the fire) I cooked an extremely fresh half chicken (from the 8-O'Clock Superette in Greenville, SC, outstanding meat market).

Tomorrow depends a lot on the results. I am planning on cooking red beans and rice. However, with a big Kerry win I might do a beef rib roast. With a Bu$h win, I might just have a dogshit sandwich.

I cannot stay up much longer. My B/P can't take the stress.

BTW: I am listening to Air America with C-Span (muted) on the tube. Randi is waxing on now. She was great today on her program*.

* Randi took a phone call at about 5 pm EST (+/- 10 minutes) with a woman who was doing volunteer voter shuttling in Portland, Oregan. This volunteer told of taking a 19-y/o mother to the poll to vote for Kerry. The young mother told the volunteer that she needed a prescription for her infant's strep throat but lacked $3 to get the RX filled. The volunteer took the young mother to the drug store and spotted her $3 for her small, dear child's prescription. If you can get through to AAR, request that they replay that phone call. I had to pull off the road, between Flat Rock and Brevard, with tears in my eyes. Also, if you get through to AAR ask them to get Hunter S. Thompson on the horn.
