What's all this with sports curses?
I've been thinking about this re the Red Sox and Redskins...Aren't curses spiritual and therefore religious in nature? And are they taken seriously and if so, why?

1. Neither spiritual nor religious-just really superstitions...
...which, btw, does play a role in religion, too, huh?

5. Athletes and sailors
The two most superstitious groups there are. Maybe because there's so much of an element of luck in what they do.

6. No, they are superstitious in nature.
As is religion. But that doesn't MAKE them religion.

7. Is there a curse on the Portland Trailblazers?
my town's only major league team I loved them since their inception but now I could not care less about them even if they make the playoffs (big deal)
For a long time they were considered a model team in the NBA they had classy guys (Clyde Drexler, Buck Williams, Terry Porter for example) but the jerk from Seattle Bob Whittsett totally ruined the franchise, IMO...
I suppose it does not matter...I used to love watching basketball but no longer...
