"Kerry" racing greyhound "Slingshot Doogie" wins.
Just saw this on the local news. A grayhound racing track had set up a race between a "Bush" doggie and a "Kerry" doggie, and the Kerry doggie won.

Hey, it's trival, but I'll take it! That and the Packers win... sports related omens goin' our way. :D

1. That is a good omen, but...
Sadly, both dogs will likely wind up:
1. Shot in the head and dumped in the woods;
2. Sold to a lab for experimentation;
3. Sent to some Godforsaken country where they beat the dogs to make them faster;
4. Killed, rendered, and turned into dog food.

Maybe they'll "just" be euthanized. Ah, the glories of greyhound racing...

Sorry for the downer, but it had to be said.

2. Or they could get adopted into loving homes
Lots of people foster and rescue Greyhounds, including several people on DU.:hi:

3. You are absolutely right
But, it's a very small percentage, sadly. I'm certainly not belittling ANY person's adopting, fostering or otherwise helping this breed. I've adopted greys out of my organization, as well. Wonderful dogs. But, it's a shitty industry, supporting a shitty sport, that only seeks to make shitty people wealthy. A plague on both houses of anyone supporting it.

5. How are they with cats?
I've been looking into getting a dog and have considered an ex-racer, but I would be a noob dog owner and I'm not entirely confident in my ability to train them away from the cats! :)

6. Some are good with cats
They have to be tested. I know people with 2 or 3 greyhounds and cats with no problem, but they do have to be tested and introduced properly.
