I love the 'Skins. But I am not quite sure I want my team to win today. After all, it is just a game.

If they do win, that does not mean for sure that Bush wins the election. After all there is such a thing as coincidence.

I have lived and died with the Burgundy and Gold for over 40 years. But today, I'm not willing to fuck with karma. GO PACKERS!

on edit: I read where, not when. Kickoff is at 1:00.

11. don't fuck with karma...
Hilarious. I feel foolish for even entertaining the notion that this game as anything to do with the election, but I just can't bring myself to ignore it.

5. Go Packers
you have to put your country before football. Of course, any statistician can tell you a correlated relationship doesn't make a causual relationship.

Curiously, this is the first time Brett Favre has ever played against the Skins on our home turf.

on edit: Crap, I edited the wrong post! I read too fast and thought you asked where, not when. In any case, kickoff is at 1:00 EST.

9. Just ask yourself one question:
How did Favre play the last time he was under great personal strain (the death of his father.)

Answer: He played his fucking heart out, and the Packers were inspired by his performance. Everyone on the team was at their best.

Favre's wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Favre will be playing this game FOR HER. That's just how he is.

My money's on the Packers. It's hard for me to root for the Packers, being a Vikings fan, but it won't be the first time I've done so. Favre is the real deal; a truly great quarterback, and leader.

They are playing very well right now anyway, and the Redskins still haven't really found themselves.

Go ahead and root for Democracy and the Green Bay Packers.

It's OK.

Washington's year wasn't going to be this year, anyway.

Sorry to say that, but it's true.

14. Packers win = Kerry wins Wisconsin!
Usually I don't put much stock in coincidental predictors, such as this. However the fact that a Redskins win or loss has coincided with election results ever since 1936 is impressive! And today, if the Packers win, there will be good feeling in Wisconsin; enough that it could result in a Kerry win in that toss-up state. If the election is close, that could be the difference IMHO.

15. GO PACKERS!
I'm not taking any chances. History has shown that a Redskins game just before the election determines the outcome of the prez election.

If Skins win... incumbant wins. If they lose....challenger wins.

I am feeling very superstitious these days.

16. Many experts pick the Pack to win today
I had a whole post with links ready to go, then lost it to the ether when the mods moved the thread on me :grr:

ESPN's experts pick the Packers 7-1, with ex-Redskins QB Joe Theisman being a homer.

CBS Sportsline is unanimous for Green Bay.

And Yahoo's experts, including Cris Carter, are all unanimous for the Pack. 80% of Pick 'Em players went with Green Bay today.

All of this means little, but it does give some encouragement. And Green Bay has been scoring like crazy lately.

17. Of course a football game is not really a barometer of things to come
in the election. Of course if the Packs WIN, you'll see me change my tune right quick. I'm watching it now. Not a Skins fan at all, always have liked Green Bay.
