OMFG!!! Roger Daltry is selling 'LEGENDS of Classic Rock'
...on Comedy Central in some stupid infomercial.

Sample dialouge:

Roger: This is the best collection of classic rock I've ever seen.

Bimbo: Wow!!! Coming from Roger Daltry - that's really saying something!!!

I guess Roger's fish farm is having problems. And he's chunky!!!

1. You have to remember that, whatever their past glories,
most of these people are really dumb and will do anything for money.

2. Poor Roger.
I don't think he's really worked since that regular guest spot he had on Highlander. It's a shame he ended up losing his head, I really liked that character.

3. What Do You Expect?
After all, Townshend was one of the first great defenders of selling his songs for commercial products.

11. Well, I do love the man.............
But I cannot argue with that. I think I heard 3 Who songs last night in commercials. I know the man can do whatever the hell he wants with his music - but DAMN!

4. The Who have been touring off the same catalog for what? 25 yrs now?
Definitely a creative dryspell, only surpassed by Sha Na Na.

17. At Least "The Who" Performed Their Own Stuff
Sha-Na-Na simply imitated other rock-n-roll acts.

5. Can rock stars "jump the shark?"

7. Rod Stewart has jumped the shark
Those tv commercials touting his "American Songbook" releases are pretty putrid to me.

Once upon a time Rod was one helluva rocker. But has sandpaper voice is absolutely not right for singing vintage romance songs; it really grates my nerves -- it truly creates the proverbial fingernails on a blackboard cringe for me.

12. God question..................
The sad fact is - the older they get the more tempting it is to sell out.

I still love them tho. I can't help it. :)

Better than "Who's Next"? Or "Quadraphenia"??

10. OK so how is this any worse then some of the other stuff he's done?
He did a show for the History channel about the American Old West. Best line in the show - the Cowboy asked Roger - "Have you ever eaten beaver??"

Roger also toured with a full orchestra and Pete's younger brother Simon on guitar and the tour was called "The Music of Pete Townshend".

Didn't anyone see the Wizard of Oz Musical thing he did with Jewel as Dorothy - Jackson Brown as the Scarecrow and Roger himself as the Tinman??

And I saw a bad movie he was in the other night about the real Count Vlad Dracula - he played a King - he was awful.

But a guy's gotta make a buck no?? LMAO

14. Don't forget the Shakespeare!
Which one was it? Comedy of Errors? Or maybe Midsummer Night's Dream? I don't remember. It was awful, I do remember that.

16. Yikes!!!!
What a dismal resume! Everything you've listed makes the fish farm thing look so much more respectable. And, lest anyone get the wrong idea, I've no problem with fish farms, at all. I just find it a very strange thing for a rock star to do.

Also, when Entwhistle died, in a lengthy interview with his wife/widow/exwife/whatever she revealed that the Who members were insanely jealous of the Rolling Stones and how they had managed to become kazillionaires by investing and carefully marketing their brand. She was quite emphatic that Pete, Rodger and John toured for the money because they needed it. Point in case; John was fronted 1 million up front before the tour and he blew it all before he died, which was before the tour even began. I suppose Pete does alright since he did most of the writing and that's were the money really is.

18. The Who "Sell Out", indeed!
Actually, they ALL sell out...eventually. They obviously need the money.

The latest :puke: inducing commercial is the new Circuit City ad, the theme of which is "Just What I Needed", with song to match, natch. Even my beloved Cars have $old out, although I guess I shouldn't be surprised as their last hit was 20 years ago, and the royalties must be running out...who knows???
