I have a couple questions regarding Mozilla Firefox:
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 09:35 PM by northwest
1) Is it something you can download for free?

2) I have existing spyware on my computer. If I install Firefox, start it up and use it, will it isolate thise shit spyware files and get rid of them forever, and not just prevent new spyware from appearing???

Any answers are appreciated, thanx.

1. You can download Mozilla Firefox for free.
Re spyware, download something called Ad-Aware SE Personal.

That's the best advice I can offer, someone downloaded all this for me. And installed it.

3. Yes and No.
You can download Firefox for free at www.mozilla.com

You will need to run Spybot and Ad-Aware to get rid of any existing spyware.

After that though, your life will be popup and spyware free.

9. If Spybot and Ad-Aware miss...there are a few others to try.
Go to this page. There are a number of different ones to try. Be sure to update them after installing them like you would a virus scanner.

10. What do you mean that you have reocurring files?
If you're running Spybot and Adaware... not sure what you mean... What are the files you are talking about?

11. I'm talking about a browser hijacker and 6 others that I don't know about.
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 09:47 PM by northwest
I've been running Norton for the past couple months to get rid of this one browser hijacker that sets the homepage to "about:blank", and it pops back in 6-12 hours.

Now this past week I have discovered 6 new re-ocurring files that pop up after I get rid of them from norton, and one of them is named "TBPS.exe".

4. Well.........................
1) Yes.

2) No. You must get a separate spyware killer. Firefox has a pop-up blocker, though. Try:

8. Firefox is free
It cannot get rid of spyware, but it is a lot less prone to getting new spyware than Internet Explorer is. If you have spyware, you can downloaded the Free version of Ad-Aware, and you can download Spybot: Search and Destroy to get rid of it. I usually run these two programs once a week just to make sure nothing sneaks by. It is rare that I actually get spyware though, and it is easy to get rid of when I do.
