What is the most romantic song?
September Song, Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson from Knickerbocker Holiday.

Oh, it's a long, long while
From May to December
But the days grow short
When you reach September
When the autumn weather
Turns the leaves to flame
One hasn't got time
For the waiting game

Oh, the days dwindle down
To a precious few
September,
November
And these few precious days
I'll spend with you
These precious days
I'll spend with you

1. That's "Our Song"
Especially poignant if one gets married later in life (and in September), as we did.

I'm also partial to "Beautiful" by Gordon Lightfoot, and lots of Johnny Mathis.

2. my song has no words...
it was just something that my girlfriend and me listen to, we embraced, and it was wonderful. its slow, has a kinda "end of summer" feel to it, its called...

SLEEPWALK

and its by Santos and Johnny. its a great song. I never knew the name of it or the people that did it until last week. I was on a quest to find out for about 3 years. I've never felt more relieved in my life.

9. "In Your Eyes", "The Way you look...", & "Angel, Angel" Morrissey
Edited on Sat Sep-13-03 10:39 PM by tjdee
Yeah, there's the "In Your Eyes", "The Way You Look Tonight", and dozens others, but Morrissey's "Angel, Angel, Down we go together"...
now that's real good. Maybe not so much romantic as it is...I dunno.

"Angel, Angel
Don't take your life tonight
I know they take
And that they take in turn
And they give you nothing real
For yourself in return

But when they've used you
And they've broken you
And they've wasted all your money
And cast your shell aside

And when they've bought you
And they've sold you
And they've billed you for the pleasure
And they've made your parents cry
I will be here
OH, BELIEVE ME
I will be here
...believe me

Angel, don't take your life
Some people have got no pride
They do not understand
The Urgency of life
But I love you more than life
I love you more than life
I love you more than life
I love you more than life"

13. Troubadours
From the ancient sun to the old heart stove come the troubadours
From the city gates to the castle walls it's the troubadours
On a sunlit day it was bright and clear
And the people came from far and they came from near
To hear the troubadours

Well the troubadours sang their songs of love to the lady fair
She was sitting outside on a balcony in in the cool night air
It was a starry night the moon was shining bright
And the trumpets rang and they gave a chime
For the troubadours

And for everyman all across the land and from shore to shore
They came singin' songs of love and chivalry from the days of yore

Baby lift your window high do you hear that sound
It's the troubadours as they go through town

Baby lift your window high do you hear that sound
It's the troubadours with their freedom song

Lift your window high turn your lamp down low baby
Don't you know i love you so

Lift your window high do you dig that sound
It's the troubadours coming through town

Van Morrison

do ya hear that sound?
give a listen,
dp

16. Magdelene by Hybrid Ice
Yes, Boston did this song, but it was a remake. I've been nostalgic of late and that's the song that was playing on the radio when I lost my virginity. I just found out Hybrid Ice is back together and doing more tours in Central PA. I may just have to go see them in concert again and maybe pick up their CD (ironically I had all the local Central PA bands on Vinyl like The Sharks, The Inciters and Kix, but not Hybrid Ice).
