Listening to Best of Bob Dylan album--and seems every song lyric is about
the political shit-utation were in now--

******
Momma, come put my guns in the ground
I can't use them anymore
This long black veil is hanging down
Feel I'm knocking on heaven's door.

******
Broken lines, broken strings,
Broken threads, broken springs,
Broken idols, broken heads,
People sleeping in broken beds.
Ain't no use jiving
Ain't no use joking
Everything is broken.

Broken bottles, broken plates,
Broken switches, broken gates,
Broken dishes, broken parts,
Streets are filled with broken hearts.
Broken bodies, broken bones,
Broken voices on broken phones

Broken words never meant to be spoken,
Everything is broken.

Bridge: Seem like every time you stop and turn around
Something else just hit the ground

******
I was burned out from exhaustion, battered by the hail
Poisioned in the bushes, chased out on the trail
Hunted like a crocodile, ravenged in the corn.
Come in, she said, I'll give you shelter from the storm.

******

O the foes will rise with the sleep still in their eyes
And they'll jerk from their beds & think they're dreaming
But they'll pinch themselves and squeal and they'll know that it's for real

The hour the ship comes in

Then they'll raise their hands saying we'll meet all your demands
But we'll shout from the bow your days are numbered
And like Pharaoh's tribe they'll be drowned upon the tide
And like Goliath they'll be conquered.

******
Here comes the story of Hurricaine
The man the authorities came to blame
For something that he never done
Wasn't in a prison cell but one . . . time
He could have been the champion of the world

How can the life of such a man
Be in the palm of some fool's hand?
To see him obviously framed
Couldn't help you but feel ashamed
To live in a country where justice is a game.

******

You may be a businessman or may be a thief
They may call you doctor or they may call you chief

You may even own guns or even own tanks
You may be somebody's landlord, you may even own banks.

Well, you're gonna have to serve somebody
You're gonna have to serve somebody
It may be the devil or it may be the Lord,
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

******

Silvio, silver and gold
Won't buy back a beat of heart of grown cold
Silvio, I gotta go
Find out something only dead men know.

******

Shadows are falling and I been here all day
It's too hot to sleep and time is running away
Feel like my soul is turned into steel
I've still got the scars but the wounds won't heal.

There's not even room enough to be anywhere.
It's not dark yet . . . but it's getting there.

My sense of humanity has gone down the drain
Behind every beautiful thing there's been some kind of pain.
I been down on the bottom of a world full of lies
I'm not looking for nothing in anyone's eyes.

Sometimes my burden is more than I can bear,
It's not dark yet . . . but it's getting there.

1. Don't forget...
"Ah get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Don’t steal, don’t lift
Twenty years of schoolin’
And they put you on the day shift
Look out kid
They keep it all hid
Better jump down a manhole
Light yourself a candle
Don’t wear sandals
Try to avoid the scandals
Don’t wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump don’t work
’cause the vandals took the handles"

the vandels part fits our gvt to a tee.....

Peace? :hippe: :smoke: :freak:

And he wasn't alone but he was the first.

5. He sang at the Lincoln Memorial in '63 and '93
Not long ago I got to see the video footage of Bob Dylan singing at the Lincoln Memorial at the huge march in 1963... people don't realize that he was one of the opening acts for Dr. King. He sang "Only a Pawn In Their Game," and it was awesome. Dylan was born in May 1941, so he was only 22 years and a few months old at the time.

The next time Dylan sang on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial was in January 1993, at the concert the day before Bill Clinton was sworn in. Dylan performed "Chimes of Freedom" to mark the passing of Reagan/Bush. He's a hard guy to read, but yeah, you might say that he gets it!

I sometimes think "Highway 61 Revisited" could be written about what's going on now. "The roving gambler he was very bored, trying to create a next world war.."

6. You forget that he is from the generation of folk singers
that were protesting the Vietnam War. The situation is unfortunately similar.:-(
