I just turned my ankle and cussed like a sailor.
I am hoping it is not so bad. But it hurts like hell right now. God. It should be alright, I hope.

2. I take it it's an inversion sprain...
Most usually are.

Take 600 - 1200 mg ibuprofen (unless allergic or other), administer a cold compress.

begin mobilizing joint as soon as tomorrow.

How did this happen?

4. Sure you just Turned It?

I thought that on the way down, and hoped for the best. (This was about two years ago.)

I couldn't put any weight on it, and my face was a pasty white -- my wife said "Get in the car, we're going to the hospital."

The ER doc didn't even touch it. "Broken right fibula."

Broken in three places.

I shouted "SHIT!!!" about 20 times. Lost track after the morphine shot at the ER.

6. In the long run, yes, but . . .
the broken fibula still hurts == actually, my orthopedist says I tore the crap out of the tendons too, and it's the tendons that still hurt, two and a half years on.

Greatest physical pain of my life.

7. that's right. it is because the tendons do not have blood supply
or regeneration cells like bones do.

tendon injuries suck.
