A very old man tried to convince me to listen to James Dobson tonight
While pumping gas. Maybe he saw my Kerry/Edwards sticker. Since I have a soft spot for seniors, I respectfully listened. Of course, I know all about him and would never tune in but I asked him "What does he preach about?" "God!" "What specifically?" "Well he's talking about politics now." "I would think that God's love and grace is more important." (I am an ex-Christian) The topic then changed suddenly to his WWII service. He was the only member of his unit to surive an attack in the Pacific. I thanked him for his service. He got kinda sad and told me about his experience with some teenagers. He told them the same story and he said "They never thanked me...thank you for that." It was a weird encounter; a little sad.
My parents made me read some book of his when I hit puberty, and the only part I remember was that I was supposed to think about Jesus instead of girls whenever I felt "lust".
