How much do you think the "Free Tacos For America" promotion costs?
For those who don't know, Taco Bell has a target in the outfield at the World Series. If a home run hits that target, they'll give out free tacos nationwide from 3 to 6 PM on November 9. How much do you suppose that might cost them?

2. My guess: about $50K
That is my guess for the insurance premium they paid to an insurer against this happening. If they have to give up the so-called "tacos," they will be paid for by an insurance policy. This is standard practice in those "Fan Shoots Basket For Million Dollars" promotions.

no worries. it's a brilliant marketing strategy thought. :)

I guess I just admire it because I'm a marketing student, heh.

I hope you realise that no matter what they have ALREADY succeeded by getting us talking about it and by getting you to mention and remember it. :)

10. oh yeah I remembered that
I happened to be REALLY low on $$ that week and by god I was praying like a fool for that MIR to hit the target DEAD ON.

Seriously! I wondered "How are they going to know if you only get one taco?" then I thought "They'll probably check ID's" so just to make sure I went out and pulled out my old driver's license from before I was married (with my madien name on it) so I could double up :)

I hate that stupid space station...having the nerve to crash, like, 10 trillion miles away from the target :)

6. Add on a drink and a chalupa and TB makes a profit
Who would drive all the way to Taco Bell just to get one free taco? I'd guess a standard taco costs them about 10 cents.

12. Taco Bell's Parent company, YUM Brands, inc also own
KFC, Long John Silver's, A&W, and Pizza Hut.
If you would like to support farm workers' rights, you can do so by buying less or not at all from these places. Also, KMart hired a guy from YUM to run their crumbling empire, so look for cross branding to occur...

15. And these assholes deny they have any control over it
but they never miss my custom. I have never been in many of the large chains, or if I have it was so long ago and so infrequently.
