Who put the cat tongue streaks on the butter?
And other hungry pet stories.

Our dog Mitzi licked all the chocolate frosting off of my birthday cake years ago.

He was a very happy pooch-smiling from ear to ear.

1. we had a big irish wolfhound when I was a kid,
and the dogs weren't allowed to be in the kitchen, but they'd watch us from the doors. I went to make ham sandwiches for some road trip, put the ham down on a small counter, turned around to grab bread, turned back and the ham was gone. the wolfhound had barely moved-- just reached into the kitchen (long neck and mouth). took me a while to realize that.

2. The cat?
I finally learned that I just can't leave butter unguarded -- got tired of all the tongue prints. I also have to put bread away because they tear open the plastic bag and gnaw on the bread. Be careful with chocolate, though -- I heard it can make dogs sick.

3. A Thanksgiving warning:
We put our turkey leftovers on a table out in the garage to cool off, and Zipper got into it. That was one happy Brittany Spaniel! And that was the first and only Thanksgiving we didn't have sandwiches the next day.

4. You had a male dog ('he') named Mitzi

That's sick.

And very psychologically damaging to the dog.

5. I bought 4 lbs of awesome beef jerky while in NM
-got it for hubby, who is a jerky nut. I put it on the kitchen counter when I got to by dad's house. I took off to get a few more things before my flight back to CA. When I returned the bags were scattered all over the floor, and there was nary a trace of jerky. My dad's 2 dogs had scarfed over $100 of jerky. They drank a lot of H20.
