1. Dago and guinea are both slang for Italian, as is wop.

2. BTW, the history of wop.
It stands for "without papers" and was what was stamped onto the Italian's papers when they went through Ellis Island.

5. Dago is a shortened slurred form of "diego" which is a generic
term for people of Spanish, Portugese, or Italian descent.

6. Possible answers:
"Dago – (also "dag") U.S., someone of Italian descent (originally derived from the Spanish name Diego, it was applied to Spanish, Portuguese or Italian sailors)"

"Guinea – U.S., someone of Italian descent.(Derives from "Guinea Negro", which came from the popular belief that italians were part african because of their darker skin.)"

"Wop – U.S., an Italian immigrant (from guappo <1> (http://www.etymonline.com/w3etym.htm), although folk etymology gives the origin as: WithOut Passport) – although some reckon the acronym as "WithOut Papers" or "Without Official Papers", suggesting undocumented status (however, Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe were far more likely to lack conclusive documentation than those from Italy during the peak period for immigration of both to the U.S., which straddled the late 19th and early 20th Centuries)"

7. Isn't it GREAT that you have to ask that question?!
I think it's wonderful--it means that kind of stuff is dying out. I remember the men in my father's generation had names for every nationality, now the names sound obsolete and stupid. WE ARE MAKING PROGRESS!!! Thank you for making my day!
