My bro-in-law is leaving my baby sister for another woman, after 18 yrs
of marriage. I don't see them often (they're out of state), so in my mind, I still see them as the very much in love young couple they were years ago.

WTF happened? He would have been the last one I would've thought would do this. It didn't seem to be in his character to be unfaithful or to hurt my sister, even if were to fall out of love with her. He was a genuinely nice guy (one of the few I've ever known).

My heart breaks for my sister. I wish I could take the pain away. She still has two young children at home, and she doesn't work.

3. Sorry your sister is hurting.
Sorry for your pain, too. She'll be okay after she starts getting mad about it. "Ain't nothin' no man can give a woman that she can't get just as well or better for herself." (Except children, of course, and she's set on that) Time and distance.

4. Your sister is in my thoughts
I hope she is able to find support in you and her others friends and family. Ending a long-term marriage may seem like the end of the world, but I know many who have gotten stronger as a result of these things. Just be there for her. Maybe you can get out to see her and spend some time with her.

5. Wow, that is a blow.
Jeez, I'm sorry for your sister. How can people live with themselves when they do what your b-i-l did? They still have two small kids at home? Unless there was abuse or addiction involved, there's very little good about this.

Did you know that most marriages which began with one partner leaving their spouse for the "other person" end in failure?

8. That's what I told her. It seemed to give her some comfort.
Unfortunately, our father is STILL married to the woman he left my mother for many years ago. So.....

10. THANKS, GUYS, for your words of comfort & letting me vent!
I just keep thinking, "Men are PIGS!" Now, I KNOW they all aren't really (pigs, I mean). But so many men seem to dump their first wives and don't care one iota what happens to them, as if they never even used to love them.

I wish sis had planned better...had at least planned for the possibility of this happening. Oh, well.

11. Wow, sorry. I hope that
She either has a degree or skill that will enable her to make a good wage or that she gets a good lawyer to protect her interests and the kids' futures, but not ruin any lives in the process.
