I rather prefer "Blake's 7". It's sci-fi mixed with The Dirty Dozen and The Great Escape. A handful of criminals (some of which were convicted of trumped up charges) fight a vicious, cruel, ruthless, and relentless Terran federation.
It used to be fun to watch, but - especially with the first two seasons - there are big parallels to fascism, fascist states, and even loose references to how the * administration operates. (that's badly worded, the show was made from 1978-1981. But then, fascism should be easy to spot; the methods never change.)
It also makes Star Wars' political allegory and characters (especially after Lucas' treatment of "fire'me'second" Han and re-adding the rather fey Jabba in what wasn't originally called "Episode IV") look like an episode of Romper Room by comparison (who cares about the special effects, I want plot and character).
HIGHLY recommended.
Anyone wanna know more?
And what's your favorite; whether it be on the small screen or book?
