3. This is not unusual
If you open My Computer, you see the d: drive (or whatever drive your burner is), but if you doublelick on it, it tells you there is no CD in the drive?

You should still be able to open your burning software and create the CD. This happened to me yesterday.

Also assuming this is PC format and not MAC.

4. Is the disk the right speed for your CD writer

I had a problem when I tried to load a CD RW disk into my CD device once and it turned out my CD-RW rewriter could only write to CDs rated 1X to 4X. The CD-RWs I had tried to use were at a higher speed and my CD writer could not recognize them. Don't know if this is your problem, but just thought I would mention it.

5. Try re-installing your CD burning program
and check to make sure the driver for your drive is properly installed. Re-installing windows also may help, but it's the last thing that's likely to help. If all else fails, sell it and buy a mac! :D

19. Get a Mac for everyday, and a PC for games...
Save up for the new iMac, or get an eMac, both great deals. And Macs are much better for ANYTHING other than games.

9. we know the drive works
but it doesn't want to burn, right?
There's also a 'working' CD writer software built into XP. If you right click on a file name, you'll see send to > CD Drive.

If this third choice does not burn, I'd assume your writer is defective, since everything else works.

properties and then there's a tab that says "recording." There's a check box to enable recording there. Check it and all will be groovy!

23. Next step. Right click on your my computer icon and select properties,
then click on the hardware tab, then select device manager.

find the drive in question and uninstall it.

Re boot and if windows doesn't find the drive, tell it to search for it.

Then try the drive again as far as being writable.

25. What operating system are you using?
If it's Xp, try using the XP disk writing routine.

You might also try uninstalling the software that came with your drive, reinstalling it and then find out if there are any updates.

I've had similar probs like this in a lot of different boxes and it always seems to be something different.
