1. Same old Astros; Can't win the Big Games
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 10:08 PM by TrueAmerican
At least when the Reds get there they win. How many World Championships have the Astros won again?

4. Sorry, Sweetie!
I was wondering who won and came on your thread..so I guess there is no big Massachusettes and Texas World Series Gonzo Games?

Reminds me though..A DUer said he was in Missouri after the debate there and Kerry said the World Series would be The Red Sox and the Cardinals..and he believed him.:P

Now will we have a problem with Missourians not voting for Kerry cause of the Red Sox?

23. Oh, that explains everything.
I thought as much. Your frustration had a distinctly Chicago depth to it.

8. the Sox were in the World Series in 59, right? But it has
been about a hundred years (or is it 500 years) since a Chicago team actually won a world series. Is that your recall of it? Well at least we had the Bulls for those few years and we had that Bears Superbowl.

As a Cubs fan, I feel like I've lived through each of those painful seasons.

15. geez, what a sad statistic. You know that old lady who is
there for every Cubs' game? Like for 60 years or something? I remember last year she said she didn't want to die without a Cubs W.S. win.

11. Horrid, horrid Astros
Crap, I just don't get the Astros. After all the miserable years of their existence, after all the miserable failures in postseasons past, you'd think they'd finally break through eventually, especially with a Game 7 situation with Clemens on the mound.

But no, the Astros acted like two runs would be enough and couldn't get anything done when Suppan was in trouble in the early innings. They played with all of the intensity of a team 19 games out of first place in June. Meanwhile, the Cardinals, who have dozens of World Series to their credit, played like the entire world would explode if they didn't win. Take Womack, for example. The man had no business being in the game but made play after play. Two Cardinals pinch-hitters come through with clutch hits. Meanwhile, future Hall-of-Famers Bags and Biggio prove that once again they just aren't made for the postseason.

Hats off to the Cards, they played to win. But my Astros, as always, were happy to accommodate them.

Sigh, Just once. Just F*&kin' once, HIT THE F*&kin' ball!

Sorry. I'm unreasonably bitter.

14. Thank god
I don't think I could have taken the World Series as a microcosm of our presidential election - what a nightmare that would have been.

Glad to see the Astros took the bullet on that one...

And being a Cub fan I have nothing but sympathy...
