2. Lustmord: Purifying Fire
Merzbow: Tauromachine
Throbbing Gristle: 20 Jazz Funk Greats

Those are heavier on the noise than on the rock, but they were the first ones that came to mind.

3. You were able to differentiate one Merzbow rec from another?
I haven't grown the gland necessary for such an ability yet.

Good choices, tho.

4. It's a scary thought when that moment hits....
It's like going through the looking glass.

I'll admit that a good 30% of the records I own I bought just for shock value or to own for the hell of it. When I actually came to find myself in the frame of mind to enjoy and differentiate between them, it was a frightening moment indeed.

5. I'm that same way about Jandek.
Although arguably there's a good bit of difference between his early acoustic stuff, his mid period electric freak-outs and his later a cappela recs. But it's all fantasically disturbing and dissonant, which is all that matters, really.

BTW, did you hear that Jandek played his first live show EVER this week, in Glasgow?

7. Supposedly the Boredoms' last tour was PHENOMENAL.....
An all drummer lineup on a revolving stage and Eye jumping around in the center. Wished I could have seen it...this was in '02, so I'm not sure what they've been up to since.

Sun City Girls: essential mushroom listening, especially "300,003..."

Are Sunn 0))) good? I haven't heard them. A reviewer from the Wire said they sounded like the Melvins, slowed down.

8. That's a good explanation of Sunn 0)))
Put it this way, there's 3 songs on each and the total running time is 60 plus minutes. The drum beats are so far apart they could be used as mile markers.I love them, but they are certainly an aquired taste.Lots and lots of reverb and just.....sound.Thick and heavy, just how I like it :)

If you've heard Khanate then you've heard Sunn 0))).Basically the same only Sunn 0))) is vocalless.

The Melvins just released a CD with Jello Biafra and my friend says it's incredible.Jello's lyrics are his usual rants (in a good way) and he said the music is some of the "juiciest stuff" the Melvins have done in awhile.

11. Uh...not really noise, not really rock, either.
Think dissonant guitars and lots of static.

12. Well...I once read an appreciation of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
reconsidered from a "post-No Wave" perspective and it was very enlightening. So maybe you got a point here.
