Hmmmm?

Just keep on with the cab sav/sav blanc? Or something new?

2. Does that have a really strong oak flavor?
I'm not a big fan of bitter.

I love Riesling, but I've had it so much. I'm feeling adventurous... but yes, Riesling is the best. :)

4. So... do you want red or white?
Red? Try shiraz or syrah. Dark, fruity, yummy. White? Try a Voigne. Light, crisp, clean.

5. Try a zinfandel.
NOT white zinfandel, but you knew that.

Zinfandel pairs well with a broad range of food, and it's good on its own.

8. What kinds of wine do you like?
My SO likes STRONG reds, I like reds but more mild. Tiziano chianti is probably my favorite bottle around 10 bucks, but this weekend we had a cabernet by Kenwooed (cool packaging) but the bottle was like 35 dollars (too rich for my blood). But it was GREAT.

Just make sure the cap is screwed on tight when you buy it, otherwise it will be spoiled.

24. I like the MacDowell Syrah from the late '90's as a sippable,
heady red.

And if you like whites, Vognier.

13. Nice day in the Bay Area
for a good red. A nice Merlot, I'd say, or a good full-bodied cab. I'm working on a Stag's Leap Merlot - quite tasty indeed.

26. Merlots can be tricky
They are either real good, in my experience, or rather nasty with an aftertaste. The Stag's Leap is quite good, but about $30 or so a bottle. Nice depth, good finish. Rich berry and a hint of chocolate almost. Nice evening sipping wine.

Probably one of the best reds is a Pinot Noir. Very smooth and tasty, nice finish, good with food or by itself. There are some excellent, mid priced Pinots out there.

I still can't get the taste out of my mouth. It was a $48.00 bottle of Shiraz from New Zealand.

16. I've been through affairs with cabernet's and many other Reds but
IMHO, you just can't beat a good old fashioned full bodied Burgundy.

Mmmmmm. Flavor in a simple wine.

30. I have spent 10x the money on much "better" wines, but in the long
run, after all is said and done and the only person I want to impress is my taste Bud, a good 100% grape chilled to about 50 degrees F is what makes me go "mmmmmmmmm."

"spätlese" is just a name for a certified wine with a certain amount of sugar in the must. There are dry Spätlese wines just as there are sweet ones.

Llano Estacado or Mondavi. Good with chocolate/sweets- how bad could that be? :-)

33. Sippin' wines!
If you want something sweet, try Geyser Peak's tawny port (about $18 a bottle), or Bonterra's Muscat (about $15). The former is wonderfully nutty and smooth, the latter is an absolutely beautiful dessert wine that tastes like honeysuckle flowers.

If you don't want a sweet wine, I'd recommend a viognier or an unoaked, buttery chardonnay.

Red wines really go best with food, so aren't the most ideal for just quaffing. However, some very nice dry roses are available now (don't think white zinfandel (yuck)--this is more like what you'd find in Provence). They're wonderful for sipping, so take a closer look at those "pink" wines!
