Did you read Fast Food Nation?
How has it affected you?

(Affected or effected? This is my worst grammar problem)

1. Yes. I don't eat meat or fowl and haven't for 3 or 4 years...
I still eat dairy, fish, and eggs so I don't pretend to be a vegetarian.

His book reminded me of "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair.

2. "Affected" is correct.
I've read excerpts, but not the whole thing. I'll probably read it eventually, when my appetite stabilizes. (When I'm under a lot of stress, I can become quite food-averse for long periods of time -- for some reason, this time around, I can stomach fast food better than lots of other things. It wouldn't be a good time to become repulsed by the whole idea.)

6. That much, I actually knew
I worked in a school that was pretty well indentured to Taco Bell.

Still...right now, it's either "eat corporate crap that I don't even normally like" or "lose a whole bunch of weight I don't need to lose, really fast." I gotta be selfish sometimes.

4. I read it when it first came out three years ago
haven't even used a Fast Food bathroom since then. I stopped eating commercial ground beef too. Now I only cook what I know is ground on premesis, and even then, only rarely. I eat alot of more ground turkey and tons more pork and chicken than I used to.

It also encouraged me to reread The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. Which is available in its entirety online.

5. You know - after reading it - I'm even more afraid of ground turkey and
chicken. There's much more crap that could get into that. Feathers, beaks, bird shit, floor lining - :puke:

I will admit that I've eaten alot of turkey burgers since reading it. I just have to shut my brain off while I do it.
