"Are you going to heaven?"
Ok, let me preface this by stating that I use to attend a Christian church as a child but since then, no.

I am directing this "revelation" I had yesterday to the fundies I will surely meet from here on out.

Let me explain. It hit me hard yesterday; the connection between so-called firey "christians" or fundies and thier not-so-hidden fascination with revenge and violent anger. Like a moth to a flame. They are all smiles but behind thier eyes, anything progressive, inflames them.

This leads me to the fact that I witnessed a true euphoria, among the 700 Club types, when "Operation Shock and Awe" started in Iraq. Children were being killed but so many of 'faith' around me were in a state of smug revenge mode.

Simply put the "revelation" I had was that "those that celebrate, get excited about, or otherwise feel 'good' about war are no way entering the kingdom of heaven". Remember I am speaking to Christians who deeply 'believe' in a Heaven/Saviour concept.

Jesus, at the gates of Heaven, will not let those who honor war to enter. Not the Jesus who gave the Sermon on the Mount. No way.

This may not seem like a big awakening to you but it just hit me so powerfully yesterday that I had to share it.
I fully intend to share this with religious wackos I encounter.

---peace

1. Many of the "heavy duty" Christian types truly believe....
....that because they go to church on Sundays and spout off a few passages of the Bible, they are the chosen ones.
I have met a lot of these people and I really feel more sorry for them than I do pissed at them. I have two right here in my dept. here at work. They read the Bible during lunch, pray before they eat and rattle off a few biblical passages to each other when they feel the need arises. When they discuss their faith, they both get somber and real serious and I do everything I can to keep from laughing. Not at their faith, but at the way they think they are the blessed ones and the rest of us are going to H-E double hockey sticks. They both backed the Iraq war with fury, they were reading the paper about the "gay marriage" issue yesterday and trading it back and forth, they are both voting for bush because they think he will stop abortions...
It is almost impossible to discuss anything with them without them attempting to make my opinions sound like Satan's opinions. They attempt to try to act like they feel sorry for me because I won't be sitting with the Lord in the eternity after judgment day. It's all too freaky sometimes, but oh well... I believe they will both have a big surprise when they kick the old proverbial bucket.

3. Many awakenings for the fundies...
my biggest problem with fundies is that it's all about personal salvation. Jesus example taught us to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and heal the sick. (...and without asking anything, including their following, in return) Somehow, the fundies just lost the main message - of at least the message I hear.

Perhaps when we all do these things here on earth, heaven will be here.

4. Yes!
My understanding, of Jesus' teachings, were about the emptying of 'self' through selfless acts.
The actual reducing of the self-centered ego and not the inflation.
In other words to 'get out of the way' and led God in.

The fundies have it bass-ackwards!
IMHO of course!

7. Lumping all...
of us Christians together under such mean statements is mean to start with... we are not all like that.

Now, there is but ONE thiing that will matter (according to the Word) when we stand alone before God in judgement... what did we DO (not think or wonder or admire) with Jesus, who is called the Christ?

Did we accpet His sacrifice on the bloody cross and His resurrected glory... or did we belittle, cut, show our behinds, run down, etc Him and His people?

It all comes around.

Be watchful.
