Tired of Bach's Toccata and Fugue? (Ok, ok nobody gets tired of that!.) Well, here's my suggested list of eerie music cd's:
The Fantastic Philadelphians, Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Saint Saens: Danse Macabre Moussorgsky: A Night on Bald Mountain.
Devil's Dance, Gil Shaham (violin) and Jonathan Feldman (piano),Deutsche Grammophone: the entire disc. I really love this one, it has John Williams transcription of his music for the movie 'The Witches of Eastwick' ('Devil's Dance') and 'Transylvanian Lullaby' by John Morris from 'Young Frankenstein'. Mythodea, Vangelis: Music for the Nasa Mission, 2001 Mars Odyssey, Sony.
Paul Paray Conducts Dances of Death, Mercury Living Presence.
Opera to Die For, Philips.
Rachmaninov's 'The Rock', Russian National Orchestra conducted by Mikhial Pletnev, Deutsche Grammophon.
I can't find my cd which has Byron Janis playing Litzt's 'Tottentanz' but that's another good piece of music for Halloween.
