10. Stuart was a Beatle V 1.0
He played Bass and knew John from Art school. He was a WAY better artist than musician, and tended to skip practice to paint.

When John met Paul, who was absolutely gifted, Stuarts shortcomings were all the more apparent. He declined to tour with them and dropped out of the group. His sense of style was definitely an influence on John, and it is said Sutcliffe came up with the first "Beatles haircut".

I don't think the legendary beating John gave him on a drunken brawl casued the cerebral hemmorage that later killed him; apparently all the men in his family died early from this ailment.

12. The Pete Best Band will be playing at...
....The Brookdale Lodge, 11570 Highway 9, Brookdale, California (about 10 miles north of Santa Cruz) 9:00PM, Thursday, July 17. Tickets are $20.00 in advance, $25.00 at the door. (831) 338-9529 :) FWIW.

He's 61 years old and still gigin' around! Nice article about him in last thursdays Santa Cruz Sentinel, 'Santa Cruz Style' section.
