I think they're too sugary and have this sharp, artificial taste to them that just screams mass-produced.

22. backin you on this call...
...they remind me of the "microwave donuts" that were popular in the early 80s. Both are okayish if you get them piping hot fresh and the stars are all aligned. Anything that relies on so unstable a window of acceptablitiy to be worthwhile is not worth the effort.

5. Oh they are.
Couldn't wait for the one being built to open to try them. They were supposed to be so good and I couldn't even finish one. Like eating plain sugar.

13. How else do you think rush is supposed to maintain his pasty white bulk?
It's the only effective way for him to retain his unflattering body shape that separates him from looking French (not fat) like John Kerry.

7. Same here.
I'd much rather have Dunkin Donuts. KK's are way too high on the sugar hit. But maybe that's why some love 'em.

16. Yes! Together we shall bring down the evil that is . . .
overly sugary doughnuts. I only get doughnuts from local bakeries and the like. I think that they're better in quality and taste. That and most of them are family businesses and I like giving them my patronage.

17. Tried them...
I'd heard the hype and had to fly to St. Louis last month so tried one while I was there. OK commercial donut, nothing to write home about. On the other hand really good food isn't that easy to find in the midwest, so the standard of comparison isn't that high. For heaven's sake, White Castle is still popular. I tried those while I was there too, and decided they taste a lot better when you're young and drunk.

18. It's that "HOT" sign.
They're good hot. But a doughnut has to be pretty damn lousy to not taste good "Hot."

Dunkin's are are better and so's that CA chain... Winchell's?

I'm 6'1 myself. My weight is mainly in the legs. All those years of alpine skiing really built up them up. Stupid muscles. My legs get really stiff if I sit down for more than 5 minutes, it's a pain. Anyway, it's WAY past my bedtime, so I'm hitting the sack. G'night kleeb!

I think the criticisms on this thread are valid, but I will eat one if they are available and I'm "in the mood".

I've never actually bought one for myself, though.

When I was in high school I used to LOVE Winchells!

I dislike them for the exact same reason you do. That's why I could never the understand the cult of Krispy Kreme. In fact, they're some of the worst donuts I ever tasted, even worse than Hostess.

ON EDIT- Mac's Donuts in Ambridge, PA are the best. One more reason why I miss Pittsburgh...

I like them, if it wasent for this Carb terror, I would eat more. Just wait for a while, and this scare will go away and we can all go back to eating all the sweet things we like again.

34. Madonna and NYC famous people act like they've made a hip discovery
in Krisy Kremes, y'know, as if they are on the cutting edge of trendy. Hell, we've had em down here in sleepy Virginia for decades. Krispy Kremes? No biggie. Old hat, around here.
One more way in which the southern Bible Belt is superior to elite venues.
