Sexist, racist Democrat behavior

When it comes time to register voters, unless I'm canvassing, I only ask women and African-Americans. I registered many of the African-American people at my former work. One night, I registered the night crew of a convenience store (two black guys), one of their siblings, and a little old lady playing video poker. (Please note that I've registered more anglo Democrats while canvassing than random minorities working graveyard shifts)

It's illegal to query people about their political preference or even discuss it when registering people to vote. However, African-Americans and women are more likely to vote for the Democratic candidate. Is this the behavior of a racist/sexist, or a pragmatist?

Because I know that statistically they'll vote for Kerry, does that make me a racist and/or sexist, or merely pragmatic?

Also, someone else had a thread on "Racist Republicans," and I'm micking thier thread, whehter they deserve it or not (don't ask me, it's a lounge thing).

4. I think its wrong to ONLY approach blacks on women to register.

Assuming blacks will vote for any candidate can be problematic, despite the stats. It can be pragmatic to focus more attention on minority votes, though. I think any "Racust Republicans or Racist Democrats post bothers me.

As I said in my original post, I have registered more anglos than minorities/women, mostly because anglos are the people I usually encounter when door-to-door canvassing. When in personal conversation, however, I am much more inclined to say "let me register you to vote" when I am talking to a black person or a woman, which I think is a sign of pragmatism -- there's no need to get another Republican on the rolls. Women and minorities are less risk.

Also, as if my aside regarding the "little old lady playing video poker" didn't give you the clue, I live in Las Vegas -- playing the odds are a way of life :D.

I assure you that the thread title was more a pun than an actual statement of personal belief.

3. Pragmatic

these are the people who need a Dem in office and should get out and vote for their own interests. Women and minorities are the ones most likely to get run over by this administration. Hopefully they see that.
