A 32-year-old Manitowoc man accused of holding up the Citgo Oasis convenience store on Sheboygan’s north side Tuesday is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 8 on two felony charges.
Daniel W. Cantrall, of 932 S. 37th St., made his initial appearance Thursday on charges of robbery with threat of force and fleeing an officer. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of theft and a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Cantrall told Sheboygan County sheriff’s deputies that his goal in the robbery was to get killed," according to the criminal complaint. Cantrall told deputies he was depressed over his pending divorce from his wife and wanted to engage police in a chase and then threaten them with a knife so that they would shoot him.
Before Cantrall went to the convenience store at 4912 Vanguard Drive shortly after 2:30 a.m., he told deputies he called 911, refusing to identify himself, but telling the dispatcher he was drunk and intended to engage sheriff’s deputies in a chase.
