Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 11:55 AM by drumwolf
And I mean REAL Communists and Marxists, as in people who proudly describe themselves as such and quote directly from "Das Kapital," not "Communists" in the freeper definition of the word.

Here at City College in San Francisco I was reading some of the flyers put out by a Marxist organization. Predictably enough, they dismissed Kerry as being the same as Bush. But what really made me chuckle was that they even consider Nader and the Green Party to be part of the big bad corrupt political establishment. Ooooooooo-kay.

Of course, most freeper idiots don't distinguish between people of that ilk and pro-Kerry Democrats -- they think a "Communist" or "socialist" is anyone and everyone to the right of, say, Giuliani or Schwarzenegger.

1. Yep those folks are the true looney left
but don't ask any of these folks to make any rational distinctions....

Those folks from the US Communist Party are as Radical as the Radicals at Freeperland, and glad you saw that

Now that said, I have read (in college courses) things written by Marxist Historians... and let me tell you they are fascinaiting as well... and no they do not play the games the agitators at the street level are playing.

Now for the freepers reading this... William Krystol WAS an avowed Marxist in his earlier days... then he became an avowed Trotskyte... in some ways he has NOT CHANGED.

(Oh the same goes for Wolfie, Feigh, Perle and the rest of the crew of thugs)

2. I Read the World Socialist Website -- They're Trotskyites
and they often have excellent articles which give a historical context that I don't find anywhere else. I also give them kudos for recognizing that Democrats are better for the working class even though they don't go nearly far enough in their eyes.

Smart people -- I wouldn't want them to run the country, but a valuable part of the political debate.

3. very well said
I used to identify myself as a Trostkyite - Maoist, even, before that - and I've since been grateful I was never in a position to implement policy. But wsws, as you say, makes a valuable contribution.

I'm still radical left, but no dogmatist.

4. When I was involved with the anti-war movement...
they were the main people organizing and recruiting. Some groups such as the Spartacists are REALLY looney and consider even the Socialists Workers Party far too right wing. Last time I bumped into the SWP they accused me of being a profiteer too, which was amusing.

Call me what you will, but given the fragmented nature of the far left I think that it is safe to say that socialist solidarity is a joke.
