Boy bikes vs. girl bikes. What's the reasoning there?
I'd like to think I have a reasonable knowledge of human anatomy. But there's still something I'm not getting. What's the deal with the bar?

1. The bar makes the frame strong...
...and it's the reasonable way to build a bike.

The girl's bike, with the swoop between the seat and the handlebars, was designed to accommodate skirts.

Now that girls wear pants when they go bike riding, they still have girl's bikes because...well, because they're girls, gorram it!

2. So it's some sexist artefact?
Has the weaker frame resulted in more injuries?

3. The correct answer is to accommodate skirts.
But... I always like to think there's puritanical reasons behind it; as in the flowers of virginity would be tempted to straddle the upper bar for clitoral stimulation. Kinda like saddle horns (well, maybe not, but whatever). :)

8. I can't speak for all men...
But I would rather not land on my nuts then have a phallic symbol.

5. I can't believe they still make bikes that way
I think most adult bikes are made like boy bikes now. I hope that you can find "girl" bikes with the bar across, now, for kids.
