2. Only if you nuke asparagus on them...
That's about the only time I've seen that much of a change of pee color...
(BTW, I know that's blasphemous to nuke asparagus, but sometimes a heathen's gotta do with what's on hand when it comes to lunch at work...)

3. Old Fiestaware had a dash o' uranium in them.
One fun physics experiment is to wave a Geiger counter over them. The uranium is in the red-orange glaze in the older plates.

I've also heard that lead is in the plates as well. A lot of heavy metals will leach out of plates and pots when they have tomatoes, tomato sauce, or the like in them, one reason why tomatoes were previously thought of as poisonous. I don't know if this part is true, but that's the story.

4. If you have an older piece....
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 10:27 PM by Heyo
From 1936 to 1944, that is that glazed characteristic red-orange glaze (very beautifyl) then you would have one of the most radioactive commercial items you could ever get. The glaze was made with some uranium oxide.

I don't think it's dangerous, I believe it measures about 20-25 millirads/hr on a geiger counter.

Neat though for a physics geek. (like me)

I could actually probably get a piace of ebay.. I was jus curious how many people out there knew about this. (The pieces are rare nowadays)

7. We had some in my undergrad physics department
They are surprisingly radioactive, but not as bad as the radium dial clock that we have in my current department. That thing is "hot".

8. I want some Fallujahware
Depleted uranium dinnerware......makes everything taste just a little better. If Halliburton goes into manufacturing it'll be thier first product.
