Boston DUers give Ashcroft a warm welcome, ask me anything...
Just got back from the AssKKKroft protest in Faneuil Hall. There was a contingent of DUer's (Atlant, Jonnyblitz, JMM, RationalRose, SiobhanClancy, and WillPitt) there among the masses that showed up (I would guess bet. 500-700, completely encircled Faneuil Hall). Dem. representative Michael Capuano (among others) was one of the speakers as well, gave an impassioned speech about Shrubco's assault on civil liberties. There were some great signs there, Atlant had one with a calico cat on it, others: "Hey Asskkkroft, Jesus hates you!" and "Ashcroft: More evil than Steinbrenner". When Asscroth finally got there, his limo drove right up to the door of Faneuil Hall, so he only had to face the public as he ascended the few steps that were right outside the door. What a complete and utter fascist, he got out so quickly that most people didn't even see him. But after he got in, the crowd completely encircled the doors and got really loud, I imagine they probably could be heard inside. Wish I could have stayed, I'm sure that when everyone else gets back, they'll have updates for ya. Nothing like getting up early to combat fascism:)

1. Damn I wish I didn't work in Bedford . . .
But I had to drive out here at around 7:00 this morning, otherwise I would've been there.

2. I came to work an hour late;)
but the CEO of my company hates Asscrotch, and we were talking about this rally yesterday. I expected to be accosted first thing when I walked in the door, but instead he asked "did you go to the rally?" and then "That guy is such a fascist". I love this job:) Wish you could have been there, it was a lot of fun, we all got there at 7:00.

6. I (and a few others) received an email from Moveon
then it got posted on DU yesterday. Other chief organizers were the ACLU, A.N.S.W.E.R., CPPAX, and United Justice for Peace. Sorry you didn't hear about it, Ashcroft would have liked to ignore you (just like he did to everyone else there:)

7. Too bad you missed the freeper
After Ashcroft left and things started to die down some old guy, who I've seen before, walked around holding a Bush/Cheney sign, wearing a red, white & blue peace sign hat, and yelling at people. A faux news van was near by so some people asked if they were filming this and told them that one of their fans got loose.

Al Franken is suppose to be doing a book signing in Cambridge later this month so there was talk of possibly getting together then.

Thanks to Meegbear, I got a ride home.

9. hehe...rational rose and myself
had fun hollering at that freeper. I love it when one of them starts screeching at me about military service ( me being a Desert Storm vet etc.) I guess they think only wingnuts have done the military thing.

11. you know it's getting bad
when they can only muster the lone freeper to come out, i was at least expecting the kind of "counter-protest" where 5 or 6 of them show up and blame Clinton's penis for everything and call everyone hippies. What utter losers, the tide is turning:)

10. I was walking by out front
when his hearse pulled up to release him into the building, only saw a brief scuffling of individuals, can't say for certain that i gazed upon the countenance of creeping fascism.

12. Thank you all for being there
It's time like this I wish I still lived in MA.

Did you see the spot outside Faneuil Hall where I fainted at the Kerry thing last week? :)

Again, thanks to all of you for taking the time to be there and to make our voices heard. I appreciate it!
