What was the number one single on the day you were born?
Mine was "Big Bad John" - by Jimmy Dean (coincidence? I think not)

Google search (I typed "number one song" then the year, month & day)

22. Mine was "Hound Dog"/"Don't Be Cruel"
Two-sided #1.

It was today's date in 1956.

There's a theory that the #1 song on your birthdate has significance in your life. "Don't Be Cruel" is probably more on point than "Hound Dog".

71. One of the great instrumentals
Ask your friendly neighborhood teenager to download it for you. It's a beautiful piece of music.

Bert Kaempfert was an orchestral bandleader who, not so ironically, gave many of the early rock-and-roll techies their first jobs. He had a slew of hit instrumentals in the 1950s and 60s.

Mid-August, 1969. I only remember it because I saw it on "Dateline" on my birthday about ten years ago. IIRC this same song later became the theme song for the short-lived Sci-Fi series "Cleopatra 2525".

However, Elvis did die on my 8th birthday. Whatever that means.

Perhaps, someday, they will be translated & posted on the web.

There are sources for big hits of the year. The top was Dinah Shore's "Buttons & Bows". Tex Ritter's "Rye Whisky" is also mentioned.

I'll go with Tex.
