Favorite song that is definitely not you!
Do you have a song that is completely outside of what you usually listen to but you absolutely love?

I listen to stuff from Greenday, Black Crows, Bare Naked Ladies I guess you get the picture.

Well, one song I am nuts about that does not fit in here is "Heaven Only Knows" by Emmylou Harris. A straight up heartbroken, wailin', my baby done me wrong, honky tonk song.

I first heard it on an episode of "The Sopranos" and fell in love with it.

Okay, your turn.

2. Well, some people find it odd for an agnostic to be huge into gospel
though I prefer to listen to it on the black gospel radio rather than to buy the records.

3. I grew up having Neil Diamond shoved down my throat and can't stand him
My mother was a serious groupie, had every vinyl,

HOWEVER

I am utterly and completely mesmerized by the scene in pulp fiction where Uma Thurman dances around the living room to "Girl, you'll be a woman soon" (I can't remember who covered it). I mean, it is a spiritual experience for me, even though the song is utterly, unexcusably cheesy.

Any time the movie is on I will sit through all the other scenes just to watch her do the "Girl" dance, and then I will go around singing it for days.

4. Baltimora.... Tarzan Boy....
it's terrible to admit it... but it's such a goofy song, it always cheers me right up.

I'll check into the 12 steps for bad music addicts program tomorrow, I promise....

5. There is a duo called Bitch and Animal (under Righteous Babe Records)
Ani DiFranco's label - and the song is called "Best Cock on the Block" (I think...) It's a sort of rap song by a lesbian about a dildo collection. I understand it to be a play on male rap braggadocio and it is hilarious.
"you like 'em real big, I got a GMC brand - you like 'em little, I got a mini pickle. I aim to satisfy, I aim to please ... just give me some booty that I can squeeze. What can I say - they can't stay away from the best cock on the block today. It's eternally hard."

I like singing it at karaoke. I'm straight - and it tends to throw people off.

6. I had a friend who...
would do "It's Raining Men" on karaoke nights. He was straight also, but he would tie his shirt in a knot above his waist, prance and put an extra little swivel in his hips. Just play it up and the audience always loved his little act.

7. It's too funny ...
My other favorite is "Dance:10 Looks:3" more commonly referred to as "Tits and Ass" from A Chorus Line. This is my heavy artillery. I use it once a year, usually the night before Thanksgiving ... for no particular reason. I would love to see your friends routine - that song reminds me of Austria. :hi:
