Favorite Movie Hero/Main Guy?
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 06:37 PM by tjdee
Since there are so many guys here, quite interested to see the answers here...will we see more Steve McQueeny picks, or Tom Hanksy picks? More hero types, or anti-hero types?

For me, I'd say Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird, Cary Grant in whichever picture you'd like, Denzel Washington ditto...I've got lots though. I've even give an honorable mention to Matt Damon's Jason Bourne. Very unexpected from him.

on edit:
And Adrien Brody in anything, he's so cute :silly:! For kicks I'll say Adrien in King Kong, which is coming out next year I think.

1. Sam Waterston
He usually plays complex characters, and many of his films are ones that really get you thinking. My favorites are: Mind Walk (where he plays Sen. Jack Edwards!) and A Captive in the Land.

7. I never understood why Sam Waterston wasn't a bigger name.
There's such an earnestness and an honesty to him.

10. Admittedly, Sam is not a very big name, but you have to admit that
'Waterson' is fairly long. It's certainly bigger than 'Pitt' or 'Hanks.' Two more syllables, too.

11. Sam walks his talk
he has signed on to a lot of projects that aren't that commercially successful but they make you think. He has done films as a labor of love (The Commission), regularly contributes to numerous charities (he's on the board of Refugees International), and is a contributor to the Kerry campaign. He even protested during the RNC by reading the Constitution at Cooper Union.

4. In which movies?
It's kind of hard to nail that down, though...for me, if I had to pick a Cary Grant flick it'd probably be Notorius or North By Northwest. I think.

17. Indiana Jones
Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of my favorite movies. I loved Witness, Air Force One ("Get off my plane.") and the Star Wars movies.

Cary Grant was good in everything. Bringing up Baby was wonderful, Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, North by Northwest and Houseboat.

3. I'm currently undergoing an obsession with Matt Damon.....
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 06:33 PM by Jade Fox
but the late Gregory Peck will never be bested: gorgeous, with great
politics.

If you've never seen him in "Gentleman's Agreement", do so. It will open
your eyes as to how blatant Anti-Semitism used to be in this country.

Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mocking Bird...

... then Sidney Poitier in To Sir with Love (I knew how Pamela Dare felt--Miss Dare...)

... then Clint Eastwood in Bridges of Madison County (when he says to Strep, "If you don't mind my boldness, you look stunning. make 'em run around the block howling in agony stunning.")

8. To Sir With Love....Sidney....
Thought of adding that, but I didn't want to go on all day with my picks.

I started to like Clint Eastwood after that film--I thought he was great in that role.

12. yeah sidney and clint
I have dreams about those guys..also loved in The Heat of the Night (sidney is such the consummate classic masculine gentleman ala Gregory Peck).... Clint just makes me a little weak ...twinkling eyes..flawed hero---but smart with a heart very sexy..

9. Jimmy Cagney is always fun to watch, good guy or bad...
He brought such energy to his roles, and proved that he was very versatile when he played such characters as his psychotic Cody Jarrett in "White Heat."
