Someone explain this @#%@#$% filesharing stuff please!
I have both eDonkey and Bittorrent, and they're driving me nuts.
Edonkey has been "downloading" a file for 2 weeks now. It hasn't added a single bit for a week! It can't be that slow and still function!
Bittorrent, I tried to DL some files today, and the DL would start, go to maybe 5-6 megs, then quit in entirety.
What is up? Has anyone experienced this?

1. It's really unreliable.
Most of the downloads are crappy, and often have dropped connections.

6. NO
Limewire is crap. And it does have spyware.

I have a Mac, though, so no spyware for me. I use Xfactor.

7. k-lite_2.41_en.exe is what you want
First, if you live in the USA, I would not share copyrighted files now. You can be sued, and you can be criminally charged for SHARING files. Downloading only is generally OK.

That means that you should NOT use bittorrent (BT). BT is set up so that in order to download a file, you must share it. Also, BT is set up so that when you begin to download a file, your IP address is automatically made available to everyone who wants to see it on the internet.

So BT is not something you should use at all.

What you want is the old version of kazaalite. Search google for "k-lite_2.41_en.exe"

This version will let you turn off sharing, AND set your participation level (PL) to 1000, making it look like you are sharing a lot of files. But do not share any. That is not a good thing for the file sharing community, but the other countries that are not such a big fat feeding trough for the corporations are just going to have to bear up and let us Americans leech off of them.

8. I think I understand more now
I have been trying to get files (MST3K files) that are in really high demand. that's why they aren't transferring at all. The problem is, the interfaces on most of the software types isn't communicative at all.
As far as sharing copywrited files, I'm looking for old Grateful Dead concertys and MST3K, and that stuff isn't copywrited.
