My car was burgled last night...
They didn't get much, just a couple bucks worth of change, a pair of sunglasses, and my dad's handicapped placard. Oh, and the insurance card.

Nuisance, really. I need to replace the handicapped thing for when my Dad and I go out shopping or to eat. And those were some great sunglasses. Serves me right for not locking my car. But I never have locked my car, in Chicago, in Seattle, and here. First time this has ever happened.

Damn.

1. I hate that! They only stole my hairbrush and a satin
jacket and a cheap radio, but I still felt so violated.

Even years later it makes me mad.

2. Bummer
I've always been fortunate to live in places nobody could even find, let alone burgle anything. I never lock my car and half the places I've lived, I left the keys in it.

It's funny too because people ask me all the time, "Aren't you afraid to live way out there?" and I say, "Afraid of what?" I'd be a lot more nervous in a crowded city.

6. The cop who took the report said that too...
he said not locking the car in Mesa was inviting theft. Yeah, I know. I don't leave any valuables in it. We'll have to get the placard replaced, but evertyhing else is expendable.
