They suck, their albums are tolerable, but they are horrendous live. So awful that I actually had to walk out of Irving Plaza. I have heard bands of 15yos that were so much better

I like a lot of the music my kids listen to. But when I tell them that they suck, they think I'm nuts.

I think The Strokes are really good, mainly because of the "rough around the edges" vibe that turns a lot of people off. I wish they hadn't gotten as big as they did, but they're still one of the better "popular" bands right now. And believe me, your kids' listening to The Strokes is a lot better than their listening to Hoobastank or Good Charlottle or some crap...
