This is my favorite movie of all time. It's not the best movie of all time, but it is my favorite. The changes made to the DVD really do improve the movie for the most part, unlike some of the ones they made to the other two movies.

Have at it!

2. I've never been able to see strings, on any version.
But I'm sure all that stuff was fixed for the DVD.

4. The problem with the original, pre-edited version is
that during the battles on Hoth, you could see a black outline around all the ships because they were superimposed over a white background. In the new version, thanks to CGI, you can't see it anymore, it looks more realistic.

3. I watched most of it last night myself :)
Unlike some people have said, the emperor does NOT reveal that Luke is Vaders son when Vader is speaking to the huge hologram of the emperor. In fact, all that's added in is that he refers to him as Anakin Skywalker's son. Of course, at this point in the series, you don't know that Vader is Annakin, so it's irrelevant. I've heard a lot of people say that the Emperor reveals that Luke is Vaders's son at that point, but it just ain't true :)

5. Yeah, I really liked that new scene.
The Emperor looks genuinely creepy now, instead of looking like an old woman in a mask (which is how they filmed it the first time).

But the best part of all is that Luke's pansy-ass scream is gone! In the 1997 version, they added this extremely stupid sound effect of Luke screaming after he jumps into the abyss rather than go with Vader. It ruined the entire scene for me, which I always thought was the defining moment in the whole trilogy. And now it's back to normal! Yay!
