Are you a moderate Christian?
According to the New York Times, Yusef "Cat Stevens" Islam is a "moderate Muslim."

1. I'm a moderate atheist
Which isn't to say that I don't see wonder and "magic" in the world, or that I'm not a "spiritual" person (our language is lacking in these terms when they're not associated with mysticism).

I'm just not interested in converting anyone or going to war over it.

9. I believe in christ teachings and feel it is a good path to follow
but would not call myself Christian in the religious sense because I find most christian churches don't follow christ teachings - most of them discriminate and force their views on others and judge others as going to hell

christ was much more open and loving than any church I have known.

21. You should check out "new thought"
we are non-denom, but follow the teachings of Christ. Most religions, even muslim, respect Jesus, and if you ask them most will tell you that Jesus was a great prophet and philosopher.(ask most evangelicals what THEY think of ANY other religion and see what they say)

We respect all religions, and we think that all paths lead to God. We follow the teachings of "A Course in Miracles" a lot, along with the bible. We believe that Christ, and the kingdom of heaven is inside all of us. And that we are not only all the same, we are all one.

23. not crazy about course in miracles folks that I have seen
I have read some of miriam williamson books but 'feel' the course is another cult like mentality

I just find most religions still say they are the one and everyone else is not - until they come together and accept they are REALLY all worshipping the same god - I don't see me fitting into any of them

My view is each has a piece of the puzzle and if they would only get together and look for the similarities - we could find the answers to some of the mysteries - they are all good except satanic which aren't worship of a god

indian religion believes in the oneness of the earth and people and god

I tried going to spiritualist church but never grows and the people who are there are the same all the time and 'odd' not a good cross section

they believe christ is one of the master teachers.

so - I just find religions purpose seems to be to control
so it is either the government or religion and now the usa is going to merge them both into a facist state and unless we can wrestle back control and keep our guard up for the rest of eternity against the fanatics/fundamentalist of any and all religions.

10. If treating people with respect and recognizing the good parts
Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 09:32 AM by Kid_A
of the Bible while ignoring the parts that George Bush uses to justify killing brown people makes me a moderate Christian, then I guess I am.

I was raised in the United Methodist church, but I haven't been to a service in several years.

15. I consider myself a liberal Christian
I believe in Christ, an afterlife, and God, but after that, there's much disagreement. Other Catholics and I even see the basic three differently. I don't picture God as an older man. I see God more as a force.

19. Agnostic Lutheran here.
I believe that some higher power created all this, even taking into consideration the big bang thingy. I can't however say that it is a Christian God who did all that. Even asking the obvious question of who then created God I'll let that be one of the mysteries of the universe until I shuffle off this mortal coil.
