Can't find thread about good places to eat in DC area. We're leaving for DC this Friday, the 17th. Dern! I was gonna print it and didn't get it done. Breakfast -- lunch -- dinner -- drinks -- ???

1. Do you know what part of DC you'll be in?
There's a ton of ethnic restaurants near on the 2600 block of Connecticut Ave (Woodley Park Metro), a bunch of restaurants in Dupont Circle...

If you're staying near Washington National (Crystal City area), there's a good breakfast diner on 23rd near the sports pub. Lunch is best near Farragut North's Metro, take in a restaurant on K Street and bump into a Senator. Dinner - Connecticut Ave between Cleveland Park and Woodley Park is my choice.

Can't advise drinks until I know what sort of place / drinks you like.

2. Mr. Rabbit prefers beer, thank you.
I like soda pop drinks, as my father used to say: margaritas, daiquiris, coffee coyote, etc. Jack has also been known to enjoy margaritas.

We'll be staying at the Comfort Inn Pentagon in Arlington, doing tourist thing (Smithsonian, Lincoln Memorial, Monticello, etc), visiting some of the time in Fairfax Station VA and, hopefully getting together with some DC area DU'ers.

3. For a great breakfast
Go to Bistro Français on M street in Georgetown.

I recommend the Eggs Benedict.

You will thank me later. I assure you!

My wife and I are addicted... :-)

4. I thank you now, MrWiggles.
Are you in the area? What would be a good place to meet some East coast DU'ers while we're there?

9. DU headquarters is in DC
I think they are located in the Dupont Circle area. I remember them asking locals to go there and help sending thank you letters to people who donated in the fund drive.

10. Another good, cheap breakfast...
There is a Waffle Place right across the street from Ford's Theater. Just counter seating only, but it's good stuff! :9

5. Well if you want to hear a concert Sunday @ 5:30pm...
I'm playing in a piano quartet recital in College Park, MD; which is very close to an excellent brewpub/restaurant called Franklins.

The admission cost is a free-will donation which will benefit a co-op nursery school.

If you're interested, I'll give you more details. :hi:

6. A few good places.

If you'd like a nice, albeit pricey, dinner, then I would suggest the Oceanaire Seafood Restaurant. Best damn crabcakes in the city.

If your in Pentagon City (my neighborhood), then try the restaurants on 23 street in Crystal city (which is adjacent to Pentagon City and within walking distance). There's something to suit any taste.

Also, there's Sushi Taro near Dupont Circle. Rumor has it Bill Clinton ate there.

For a Sunday brunch there's Georgia Brown's on 15th street. Great southern cuisine. I really can't stress enough how great the brunch is. However, you may want to reserve a table in advance.<http://www.gbrowns.com/dir/brunch.aspx>.

For beer, can't go wrong with a Capital City Brewery.
