uh-oh my partner was just diagnosed with AAA
abdominal aortic aneurysm. It is a 5.9sm size and they are talking surgery a sort of stent inserted through both arteries on either side of the groin. It is less invasive than the traditional repairwhich invoves opening the abdomen. He is 68 and has COPD already. they are sending hime to a cardiologist first to see if he can take it. I'm starting to get scared. He had an operation in 94 and I almost lost him, when an ulcer perforated and he got pertionitis.

3. Make sure that you are at a facility who has a good record
If he has COPD, doesn't he already have a cardiologist?

You can always get a second opinion

Best of luck to both of you

5. GET THE SURGERY!............I lost my favorite aunt..............
a couple years ago to an aortic aneurysm that she for some reason never had surgery for. My grandfather had 2 surgeries for aneurysm (AAA) back in the late 60s-early 70s, he lived to 88 years!

11. My Dad Had A Stint Inserted The Exact Same Way...
... when he was 65 and all is well with him 3 years later. This is something that needs to be taken seriously and attended to with due speed and caution. I know how frightening these things can be... but based on its success rate and recovery rate, I'd guess that there's no reason to become obsessively worried or panicked about.

I hope all goes well. Let us know how it turns out.
