Favorite song to sing or sing along with?
I gotta go with "Midnight Train to Georgia." (I mean, I GOT TO GO, I GOT TO GO, I GOT TO GO...) As anybody could guess, my only ambition in life is to be a Pip.

After that, the twin brain-dead numbers "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey and "I Can't Hold Back" by Survivor. ("...and in the night the silence speaks to you and I... ...Your voice explodes inside my head" Ouch!) Alice and I have had fun singing all three of these for three years now. Hey, 50,860 ignored my anniversary thread, so you get the same information again in a sneakier form.:D

Yours?

4. All of them!
Singing is good for you, I'm sure of it. If I know a song, I'm either singing along or wishing I could (if I'm around people I don't want to annoy). :)

8. Congrats on escaping the 700 Club
After Gladys fired the Pips, they did various variety shows as "And the Pips"; among the funniest things I've ever seen

7. "Reason to Believe" by Bruce Springsteen
I love to sing the first verse and twang it up around one of my uppity friends, who thinks it's a country song.

"Saw a man standing
over a dead dog lying in a ditch
Looking kind of puzzled
poking that dog with a stick
Got his car door flung open
standing out on highway 41
Like if he stood there long enough,
that dog'll get up and run.

Struck me kind of funny,
struck funny sir indeed
How at the end of every hard earned day
people find some reason to believe."

I have a poor singing voice, with a limited vocal range, so I don't sing it well.

11. Oh this thread reminds me...
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 02:00 PM by redqueen
A couple of weeks ago, we stopped by a Starbucks to get coffee (the Mr's idea... I hate that place), and I had decided to stay in the car so as to avoid hearing whatever inane converstaions were being shared with the too-loud speaking voices I find so common in those places. (Why do people do that?) So anyway I'm sitting in the car with my kids listening to the radio, flipping around the stations looking for something good, and I hear 'jitterbug' -- wheeeee! Being the anti-tyrannical parent I am, I ask my kids what they think about the song, and after they tell me they like it, I go ahead and turn it up. Now if you're a loony WHAM! fan like me, then you know you can't possibly listen to that song without getting way too into it. I'm not only singing along, but practically dancing in the car while enthusiastically (read loudly) singing along and having a grand old time.

So there I am really enjoying the song and having fun with the kids and they're smiling and having fun, and I look up towards the Starbucks (we're parked around the side of the building so I'm not too obvious) and I see this twentysomething guy about 5 feet away from my car. Direct eye contact. He's looking me right in the eyes. I know he heard me, and saw me bopping to the beat like a hyper 4 year old. He didn't grin or laugh or anything, so he must have been thinking something truly awful. I haven't felt so embarassed in I don't know how long!

12. I'm sure he was, at worst, a little bewilderated
Think how you feel when you see somebody getting goofy in a car (especially with kids involved). Maybe amused, maybe amazed, maybe puzzled, but I don't think hardly anyone thinks less of the person getting goofy. If he did, he's a jerk, so forget him anyway.:D

15. Has anybody ever figured out what his contribution to Wham was?
I mean, George Michael got writing, singing, and production credit. What was the point of having Andrew Ridgley?

24. "Sick, Sick, Sick" by Freakwater.
Iridescent
Opalescent
Now descending
A silver cresecent
There's a silver lining
Shining above me
Black top black
The water's slick slick
How high the moon
How sick the sick
It's a dark night for me and my baby

I saw you again and I came all undone
Where the ice is all melted
And I ain't got none
Half full from the bottom
Is still half empty from the top
Spin the bottle one more time
And make it stop

I shiver and shake
Deliver the poison that I take
A fever that just won't break
Drawn crooked from its quiver
Cupid's arrow has made a big mistake
And I shiver and shake

A slack-jawed smile fell from the vine
A cigarette hung from a crescent moon
That was slung on its side
Drink a drink and crimson smiles are clinging to the rim
Lipstick stick, the liquor licks
The old flame fuels

Iridescent
Opalescent
Now descending
A silver cresecent
There's a silver lining
Shining above me
Black top black
The water's slick slick
How high the moon
How sick the sick
It's a dark night for me and my baby

Black top black
The water's slick slick
How high the moon
How sick the sick
It's a dark night for me and my baby

It works better when I'm completely shitfaced. :P

I think I just may be in love with Catherine Irwin. :loveya:
