What music have you been listening to lately?
I'll let you define the time frame for "lately" this time.

Most recently, I listened to:

Sarah Hudson - Naked Truth (Sarah is Kate Hudson's cousin. I was impressed and would give the CD a B+. "Girl On The Verge" is really one of the best power pop songs I've heard. Her style is interesting (she uses neo-Madonna-esque guitars in a more rock setting, and songs like "Ghandi" are appealing in a quirky way.) She needs a little more direction as she goes Christina Aguilera-like on a couple ballads (at least the lyrics are decent and the ballads sound more 80s than teen-pop,) and stylistically it's a bit jarring from song to song. Also, she needs to work on her somewhat thin vocals. But she has quite a bit of potential as a singer and songwriter.)

Kasey Chambers - The Captain (it is outstanding and I'll have to buy her latest CD.)

Finn Brothers - Everyone Is Here (highly recommended!)

These songs:

Hilary Duff - "Fly" (haven't been a Hilary Duff fan, but this single is actually pretty good. I'll at least check out her new album.)

samples from Skye Sweetnam - Noise From the Basement (people call her a younger Avril, but I'm a fan of the newer pop/rock and can hear the differences in each CD. I'll likely be buying this one.)

samples from Bonnie McKee - Trouble (this sounds like a bluesier CD than most of the newer pop CDs and more like the traditional pop songwriters like Carole King. I'm likely to be buying this one, too.)

Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 12:56 PM by chenGOD
Spring Heel Jack - "Busy Curious Thirsty" (it pales besides the masterpiece that was "68 Million Shades")
and just before that was a Cylob radio show that I downloaded.

yesterday it was:

Lexaunculpt - "the Blurring of the Trees"

Squarepusher - "Burning'n'Tree"

Max De Wardener - "Where I Am Today"

Morgan Heritage - "Live in Europe"

Arovane - "Atol Scrap"

edited for clarity/spelling

and dammit that was supposed to be a reply to the main thread.
