What CD burning software do YOU use?
Do you like it? Is it free?

I need to replace Nero 5.5. I just got a new CD burner and it crashes often. I think my old version of Nero (that came with the burner) conflicts with sumthing. I want to give some other software a try and am looking for suggestions. I am presently downloading Nero 6.0 but imagine that will only last 30 days or something before they want a ton of money.

thanks in advance.

oh, Mac and Linux users, save your fingers and wit for someone else - I have no sense of humor.

1. Nero 6 has worked fine for me.
I've been drifting toward Alcohol for my game/application burning.

Works great for me. I use the free version - no clue what's in the pro version that isn't in the one I have.

I have the free version of Roxio Easy CD Creator on an older computer (it came preloaded on it), but when I tried to install it on this one it hosed the system so badly that I had to format the disk and reinstall everything.

4. I've had no problems with Nero on XP/2000
I love it. Its great for burning video discs too. Nero 6 is a dream. I tried EZCD Creator and thought it sucked. Fireburner is cool, small footprint, fast, but not as fully featured as Nero:

A lot of people like Alcohol, but I wasn't crazy about it. It does a lot of things though:

8. I skip the frontend and just use cdrecord
Great, great, great set of tools. Never used XCDRoast, but I have used one of the GNOME frontends and a couple KDE frontends.

7. MusicMatch Jukebox
You can download the basic version for free. I paid for the upgraded version, and it is by far the best out of the others I have used (nero, hotburn, and roxio).
