My favorites and desktop has changed. new shortcuts,favorites

rearranged, tool bars all different. I have desktop shortcuts that I didn't put there. Mostly on line casino sites, dating sites, Shopping sites, movie sites, AOL Messenger (which I have never used). WTF! :wtf:.
My computer was off when i went to work this morning. My son turned it on to check his e-mail and everything was changed.

What could have caused this?

1. web hijack

download spybot search and destroy and AdAware it should find and fix the problem.

2. o shit!!

exact same thing happened to me about a month ago... went to work, came home, son had been online and all my stuff was fried. took me 3 days to figure out how to fix it.

3. i used trend micro housecall on mine

found a bunch of virus's in my temporary files s so i just deleted them all out. had to reset all my cookies but it was worth it. what a mess.

4. it's hell

to fix sometimes. Those web hijacks mess alot of stuff up. I started using that free AVG anti-virus software and it hasn't happened since.

6. my problem was

just being able to get to the website to run the program. i had to keep hitting ctrl-alt-delete and ending task on a bunch of crap that was slowing my 'puter to a snail's pace. almost went crazy.

Easy to dump with ADAWARE!

9. Your computer is infested with spyware. Get Spybot and Adaware. Both

can be downloaded free. It is also possible you have viruses so I would also get Norton and install it. That is not free - you may be able to download a free anti-virus program. But I believe your main problem is spyware. It will completely tie up your computer eventually so as to make it impossible to do anything. You might also want to consider downloading Firefox as your browser. It has a popup blocker.
