Buckeyes drop to #3 in Coaches Poll
...and deservedly so. Can't play that poorly against an easy team and expect to stay #2.

But the Buckeyes got 13 first-place votes...that shocked me.

This week: vs. Fresno State (1-1)

2. Miami (8) 2-0 1,477 3
Last game: Def. No. 18 Florida 38-33 (Sep. 6)
This week: vs. East Carolina (0-2)

3. Ohio State (13) 2-0 1,429 2
Last game: Def. San Diego State 16-13 (Sep. 6)
This week: vs. No. 11 N.C. State (1-1)

4. USC (1) 2-0 1,333 5
Last game: Def. BYU 35-18 (Sep. 6)
This week: vs. Hawaii (1-0)

5. Texas 1-0 1,302 4
Last game: Def. New Mexico State 66-7 (Aug. 31)
This week: vs. Arkansas (1-0)

6. Kansas State 3-0 1,257 6

2. MIAMI??? WHAT THE FUCK!!!
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 11:24 AM by jeter
Goddamn I hate Miami. They play shit teams and run up the score and are always rewarded with a top 3 placement. Did you watch the game last night? They almost lost!!! Were only saved by Flordia's shitty play at the end. Put USC at #2. Not fucking Miami.

They are the luckiest team in the NCAA. I swear to God. They play two good games a year. And often lose or almost lose one or two of them. The coaches have their heads up their asses.

7. Here it comes...
...they'll start telling us how USC beat Auburn (who, by the way, still didn't cross the goal line against Georgia Tech).

These are the same people who claimed that 2 losses didn't count last year.

4. Top 10 seems right
even though I hate the coaches poll. The coaches only know about what's going on in their own league. The AP poll is only margainally better.

I'd like to see two things. I think there should be one poll done by a committee, much like the NCAA brackets are drawn up. People that can watch more of the games and devote their time to really crunching the numbers. Second, I don't think there should be a poll at all until the end of September. Still too early to tell what's what. The second is wishful thinking, I know. No way TV would let everyone be unranked for a month.

8. They shouldn't have polls until after the fourth game.
Until then, it's all guesswork. Wait a few weeks and then you might know something about the teams. Right now, nobody knows shit. They think they know shit, but they don't. Not really.

I'm actually surprised the Buckeyes are third. I was expecting fourth or even fifth. Not that it matters this early in the season, anyway.
