This is a fun story for the DU musicians.
Saturday night, a very popular guy in town had a b-day party, (thrown by his sisters) for his 40th.
Pig roast, big crowd, live band. He tells the three of us (me, Steve the main guitar player and John the drummer) about it. Says "i want you guys there, and if you want to jam on the other bands' stuff, that would be great. . .". So, we won't miss the party for this guy (he's a really nice guy, and funny). We go over there around 6pm.
One Problem:
No other band. The guy brought over a small PA, but no backline, and no band. So, basically the 40th birthday party has no band, even though the b-day boy was counting on it.
In an uncharacteristic diplay of altruism, my boys and i decided to run home get drums, a guitar amp, a bass amp and some decent microphones. Partygoers helped us move stuff and in 45 minutes we were set up and ready to play. We played about 100 minutes and went home, but we helped out and Sammy (the b-day boy) was happy again!
He got his live band after all. (And, if i do say so myself, a LOT better band than the one that was supposed to play.) We get to be the cool guys, who just might not be the assholes everyone thinks we are. (Well, at least a little less assholish than they think we are.)
And a good time was had by all. The Professor
