Sometimes you HAVE TO go back to the classics
--Classic Rock, that is...

I've been in a mood lately where nothing has sounded good-- ever have a day when you are driving around town, and for the life of you can't find a radio station playing music? And then, getting home, going through your entire collection of music, and NOTHING SEEMS TO SOUND RIGHT?

Well, that's been me for the last week and more. So I've been searching through my cabinets of cds and my 30gb collection of ripped mp3s (screw you, RIAA!!!), and I think I've finally found the answer to my brain freeze-- CLASSIC YES! "An Evening Of Yes Music Plus" is playing now, and damn, it sounds good! It may just turn out to be a night of nothing but Yes! (Even my beloved collection of Ambient music seems a bit stale tonight...)

What's YOUR last resort, musically speaking? What sounds good when all else goes through your head like an air raid siren? What cools your tired mind down? What chills your head out? What makes you settle back into the ol' easy chair, take a sip of that special brew, or take a hit off that ol' bong, and say "Oh, YEAAAHHH!!"?

Inquiring minds want to know, and so do I!

1. elvis costello is my 'comfort music'
sneering putdowns and clever wordplay to a danceable beat! my kinda music!

lately i've been on the moody blues kick:

how can we understand
riots by the people
for the people who are only
destroying themselves
and when you see the frightened people
who are frightened by the people
who are scorching this earth
scorching this earth

2. I got my old stand by

No matter how mad I am, no matter how shitty I'm feeling, no matter what....

An Al Green song will always get me in a good mood.

I never get tired of listening to him sing.

8. And You And I - Yes
And You And I

Yes

I. Cord Of Life

A man conceived a moment's answers to the dream.
Staying the flowers daily, sensing all the themes.
As a foundation left to create the spiral aim,
A movement regained and regarded both the same,
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you.
Changed only for a sight of sound, the space agreed.
Between the picture of time behind the face of need,
Coming quickly to terms of all expression laid,
Emotion revealed as the ocean maid,
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you.
Oh.

Coins and crosses
Never know their fruitless worth;
Cords are broken,
Locked inside the mother earth.
They won't hide, hold, they won't tell you,
Watching the world, watching all of the world,
Watching us go by.

And you and I climb over the sea to the valley,
And you and I reached out for reasons to call.

II. Eclipse

Coming quickly to terms of all expression laid,
Emotion revealed as the ocean maid,
As a movement regained and regarded both the same,
All complete in the side of seeds of life with you.

III. The Preacher the Teacher

Sad preacher nailed upon the coloured door of time;
Insane teacher be there reminded of the rhyme.
There'll be no mutant enemy we shall certify;
Political ends, as sad remains, will die.
Reach out as forward tastes begin to enter you.
Ooh, ooh.

I listened hard but could not see
Life tempo change out and inside me.
The preacher trained in all to lose his name;
The teacher travels, asking to be shown the same.
In the end, we'll agree, we'll accept, we'll immortalize
That the truth of the man maturing in his eyes,
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you.

Coming quickly to terms of all expression laid,
As a moment regained and regarded both the same,
Emotion revealed as the ocean maid,
A clearer future, morning, evening, nights with you.

IV. Apocalypse

And you and I climb, crossing the shapes of the morning.
And you and I reach over the sun for the river.
And you and I climb, clearer, towards the movement.
And you and I called over valleys of endless seas.

11. Depends on the mood(s)
Both one I'm in and one I'm going for-

for chilling, torching up, it's the oldies from my long-gone misspent youth- eagles, kansas, journey, f-mac

depressed/uberpissed= joplin, bbking, bbbland, les miz and m etheridge

to get out of a funk, it's heart, blondie, j cash (dunno why but he always picks me up)
