Is ape domestication acceptable?

Here I see so many who think that it was Ok to take apes from the wild and breed them into weak docile playthings for their human masters. It makes me sick that people would actually want to take these animals from their wild freedom and force them into houses or lawns. It also bothers me that these people insist that having an ape is perfectly sanitary, when you can watch the creature walk out of a box of pebbles, urine and feces, fling some at you, and then prepare food on their kitchen table or counter. Do these people realize what kind of filth may be spreading while they - the apes - are out to work around the house? Then there is the dander. Ape domestication is certainly a sad situation.

I'm curious to see other DU denizens' opinions on ape domestication. It is certainly a burning issue.

I should point out, however, that the domesticated apes in that movie were not ordinary apes. They were genetically engineered apes.

The issue of genetically engineered apes would probably require a separate poll.

Chimps in the White House, for example.... very very bad.
