Countdown to NHL Lockdown! 7 hours!
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 04:06 PM by ih8thegop
Now I'll have to abandon my tradition of fighting Canadians!! Just kidding.

Actually, now the Rangers and A's will have to do all the fighting.

2. It's so annoying; I'm angry at Gary Bettman
who does he think he is? It was clear to any real fan that he started ruining the game the second he touched it. Arrgh.

Well, there's college hockey - Go Michigan!

13. College Hockey or the AHL...
The last time they had a lockout instead of NHL games they showed some AHL games and it was cool to see the NHL prospects playing instead. Hopefully ESPN will show some AHL.

4. NHL is done
You can't have a Stanley Cup of Calgary vs. Tampa Bay and then have a lockout and expect more than 5 people to come back to that mess. Good riddance to a boring TV sport.

14. Speak for yourself...
Tampa vs Calgary series was awesome! I'm not a fan of either team but I don't have to see traditional teams in the finals to appreciate good hockey.

19. You're a hardcore fan
and that's cool. Problem is, for a sport to be successful it has to have a little more crossover appeal. As long as you have the trap and the two-line pass rule, it'll be hard to win over more fans.

20. I love the trap. Goals are overrated.
:-)

I appreciate the defensive game. I have to say that as a Devils fan. :-)

7. Canadians will learn the lesson we did in the US
during the last Baseball strike:

Yes, there are actually other things to do besides watching the game.
As for the NHL, I would fear for the continued existence of any sport that would allow Bill Wirtz to be an owner.

10. This sucks!
The only TV I watch in the fall is not going to be there. I love hockey and I will have to live on ESPN Classic to watch the old games.

Hockey is a great sport and it will be a shame for me and other fans not to be able to see games for a while, but it may be necessary bitter medicine for the sport to see the NHL go under.

The NHL as an organization sucks ass and deserves the ignominious death that it's brought on itself. I actually worked for them in the late '90s and saw firsthand what a bloated, arrogant, and clueless organization the League has been under Bettman, who has about as much respect for NHL office employees as he does for hockey fans.
